Rachel Kaplan

Kaplan is the executive vice president of scripted for Keshet Studios, the LA-based studio which manages Keshet International’s (KI) development, production, packaging, promotion and sales of KI’s programming activity in the US. Kaplan manages the studio’s slate of scripted projects, which includes KI’s catalogue of more than 30 premium scripted formats as well as original developments for the US marketplace and beyond. Kaplan also manages the company’s first-look scripted programming deal with NBC Entertainment, which includes a co-production pact with NBC’s sibling studio, Universal Television.

As part of a first-look agreement with NBC, Keshet Studios co-produced the military drama The Brave with Universal Television for NBC, and currently has two pilot pick-ups, including Keshet’s romcom The Baker and The Beauty for ABC and a pilot adaptation for NBC called Lincoln based on The Bone Collector books. Keshet Studios is currently co-producing The Summer of 2014 (w/t) and Rise and Kill First with HBO. Its first feature film, The Sound of Silence, was picked up by Sony Pictures Worldwide ahead of its World Premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.

Previously Kaplan was a partner at TBD Entertainment, the executive vice president of television at Brillstein Entertainment Partners (formerly known as Brillstein Grey Entertainment or “BEP”), and was the VP of drama development at Warner Bros. TV, where she developed and sold over 100 drama projects, 18 of which were picked up to series, including Chuck for NBC, Gossip Girl for CW, Men in Trees for ABC, Close to Home for CBS, and The O.C. for FOX.

Kaplan began her career in TV as an independent producer where she produced The Lyricist Lounge show for MTV.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
